The February Race Camp at Brantling Ski Racing Association (BSRA) was everything ski racers love about mid-season training — high energy, technical focus, competitive reps, and a whole lot of fun.

This year’s camp welcomed racers from five other ski clubs across New York, creating an incredible training environment filled with motivation, teamwork, and healthy competition. Bringing together athletes from multiple programs elevated the intensity and gave racers the chance to push themselves alongside new competitors.

Two Days of Focused Slalom Training
We opened the three-day camp with an aggressive focus on slalom training, dialing in technical precision, line selection, rhythm, and quick transitions.
Over the first two days, athletes worked through:
  • Advanced slalom course sets
  • Drill progressions to improve edge control
  • Start technique refinement
  • Tactical line adjustments
  • High-intensity repetition runs
To close out each of the first two days, racers competed in timed slalom runs, simulating race conditions and giving athletes immediate feedback on their performance. The timed runs created an exciting atmosphere and helped athletes apply their technical training under pressure.

For many, it was the perfect balance of serious development and competitive fun.

Day Three: Giant Slalom Power and Speed
After two slalom-heavy days, camp concluded with a full focus on giant slalom (GS).
GS day emphasized:
  • Clean carving and edge pressure
  • Speed management
  • Turn shape consistency
  • Strong body positioning
  • Transition timing at higher speeds
Athletes were able to stretch out their turns, generate more speed, and apply the technical discipline built earlier in the week to a faster, longer course set.

A True Multi-Club Training Experience
One of the highlights of this year’s February ski race camp was the collaborative environment. Welcoming racers from five additional ski clubs created:
  • Stronger training intensity
  • New friendships across programs
  • Expanded competitive exposure
  • A deeper sense of ski racing community
When athletes train alongside new competitors, they elevate their focus and effort. That energy was evident across all three days.

Why Mid-Season Ski Race Camps Matter
February is a critical time in the ski racing season. Technique is established, race schedules are busy, and athletes are fine-tuning details that separate podium finishes from mid-pack results.
A dedicated ski race camp allows racers to:
  • Increase gate volume
  • Refine race tactics
  • Train in focused blocks
  • Build confidence before championship events
  • Strengthen team culture
At Brantling Ski Racing Association, our camps are designed to balance high-level technical training with a positive, athlete-centered environment.

Training Hard. Racing Fast. Having Fun.
What truly stood out over the three days was the enthusiasm. From the first training run to the final GS set, athletes brought focus, grit, and positivity to every course.
That combination of serious development and genuine enjoyment is what makes BSRA training special.
We are incredibly proud of every racer who participated and grateful to the visiting clubs who joined us for an unforgettable three days on snow.
