 This past weekend, athletes from the Brantling Ski Racing Association traveled to Ellicottville to compete in the U14 New York State Alpine Ski Racing Championships, one of the most competitive youth ski racing events in the state. The championship brought together the top U14 alpine racers from across New York for a weekend of giant slalom and slalom competition. BSRA racers arrived Thursday evening ready for a full weekend of racing, camaraderie, and representing their home hill at Brantling Ski Slopes. Girls Giant Slalom Opens the Championship Weekend Competition kicked off Friday with the Girls Giant Slalom, where athletes from across the state battled through a challenging GS course. BSRA’s racers showed strong skiing and determination, with Kendall Bierly delivering an impressive performance and finishing 9th in New York State. The result placed Kendall among the top U14 GS racers in the state and highlighted the depth of talent coming out of the Brantling program. A Community Weekend on the Mountain Saturday continued the excitement with the Boys Giant Slalom race. While the racers competed on the hill, BSRA families created their own atmosphere of support at the bottom of the mountain. Parents organized an all-day tailgate, giving athletes and families a central place to gather between runs. The tailgate quickly became race-day headquarters, where teammates, siblings, and parents cheered on the racers throughout the day. Moments like these highlight what makes the BSRA program unique. While athletes compete individually on the course, the support behind them is truly a team effort. Slalom Day Brings Strong Finishes Sunday wrapped up the championship weekend with Slalom competition for both girls and boys. After pushing through the time change and a morning that began with rain, conditions improved dramatically as the day went on. By lunchtime, the weather had cleared and racers were competing under sunny skies. BSRA’s athletes once again rose to the occasion. Kendall Bierly finished 6th in the state in Slalom, adding another top finish to an already strong weekend. Proud of Our U14 Racers The U14 State Championships mark an important milestone for young alpine racers. Competing against the best athletes from across New York requires skill, focus, and confidence. BSRA is incredibly proud of all of its athletes who qualified and competed this weekend. From strong finishes on the racecourse to the teamwork and sportsmanship shown throughout the event, the racers represented Brantling with pride. As the season comes to a close, weekends like this remind everyone why youth ski racing is such a special experience.  This past Sunday, Brantling Ski Slopes hosted an exciting Genesee Valley Ski Council (GVSC) slalom race for U8–U12 racers. Athletes from Bristol, Hunt Hollow, Swain, and Brantling competed on the challenging slalom course in what served as the final race of the GVSC series before racers head to Belleayre Mountain for the New York State Championships. Competing on their home hill, Brantling Ski Racing Association (BSRA) athletes delivered an impressive performance, earning multiple podium finishes across several age groups. Looking Ahead to StatesWith the GVSC series now complete, BSRA racers are preparing for the New York State Championships at Belleayre Mountain, where athletes from across the state will compete. We are incredibly proud of how our racers represented BSRA all season long. Their commitment, sportsmanship, and teamwork continue to make the Brantling ski racing community something special.   The Brantling Ski Racing Association (BSRA) proudly sent Kendall and Bentley to U14 Super G States at Gore Mountain after two focused days of on-hill training with Coach Michele — and they delivered when it mattered most. Competing at Gore Mountain, one of New York’s premier speed venues, our racers had a single Super G run to make it count. Super G demands confidence, tactical line choice, and the ability to manage high speeds over changing terrain. There are no second chances. Kendall skied with strength and control, earning a Top 10 finish at U14 Super G States, a tremendous accomplishment at the state level against a deep and competitive field. For Bentley, this event marked an important milestone. It was his first-ever Super G States competition, and he rose to the challenge. Tackling the speed, terrain, and pressure of a championship environment, Bentley showed composure and growth! Two days of training. One run down the Super G track. Execution when it counted. Events like NYSSRA U14 Super G States are about more than results. They are about progression, exposure to elite competition, and building confidence in high-speed disciplines. A Perfect Race Day Atmosphere for Young Ski Racers Robins Race at Skaneateles Ski Hill is known throughout the Central New York ski racing community for its welcoming, laid-back vibe. It’s the perfect event for younger racers to gain experience while still keeping the fun front and center. Brantling families set up tents, fired up the BBQ, and turned the bottom into a full tailgate celebration. Between runs, racers warmed up, cheered each other on, and enjoyed time together as teammates and friends. The top athletes from each league qualify to compete in Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL) for a chance to advance to the NYSPHSAA State Championships. Qualifying alone is an achievement. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we raised a significant amount of money to support our youth ski racers. From packed tables and competitive games to nonstop laughter and generosity, the night truly exceeded all expectations. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated raffle items, and helped behind the scenes. These events don’t happen without a lot of time, effort, and teamwork, and we are so grateful to everyone who stepped up to help. The funds raised will go directly toward supporting our athletes by helping offset costs associated with training, racing, and team opportunities throughout the season. Because of you, our racers are able to continue developing their skills, building confidence, and creating memories that will last far beyond the ski hill. Most of all, this night was a reminder of how special our community truly is. The support shown for our kids and our program means more than we can put into words. Thank you for showing up, supporting our racers, and believing in what we do. We are so grateful and already looking forward to the next opportunity to come together as a team and community. Holiday Valley Slalom Results | U14 Ski Racing Also on Saturday, our U14 racers were competing in slalom at Holiday Valley Resort. Facing a challenging course, Kendall delivered a strong performance and earned 3rd place, adding another podium finish for BSRA. Holiday Valley continues to be a key venue for competitive U14 ski racing in New York, and our athletes rose to the occasion. Holimont Ski Race Results | U14 First Place Finish On Sunday, the U14s headed to Holimont Ski Area, where Kendall carried Saturday’s momentum into another strong race day. With focus and determination, she earned 1st place, finishing the weekend on top of the podium. Holimont is known for its competitive terrain and high-level racing environment, making this win an exciting accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of all our Brantling Ski Racing Association athletes who raced this weekend. From U10 through U14, our racers demonstrated sportsmanship, resilience, and a commitment to improvement. Podium finishes are exciting, but the growth we see on and off the hill is what truly matters. Congratulations to all of our racers and families.
